Emergency Needs

WCCB caseworkers notify WCF when families have an emergency need for:

  • Clothing
  • Beds
  • Diapers
  • School supplies
  • Emergency items and hygiene supplies when children are removed from their homes

WCF responds to these requests by supplying the needed items. We have programs in place to coordinate purchase and delivery of these emergency needs.

Our Amazon program provides a convenient means to deliver items directly to families and WCF provides gift cards to our pre-teens and teens to shop at Plato’s Closet.

Additionally, we work together with The Community Closet, Christian Layman Thrift Shop and many generous donors to meet our families emergency needs.

Our Duffle Bag program provides a duffle bag, pre-packed with age-appropriate clothing, hygiene and comfort items, at the ready, for children during home displacement.

The WELCA quilting group of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Latrobe has donated dozens of quilts for our children. Linda McDowell, who heads the group, displays an example of their handiwork.

Duffel Bag Project

In the fall of 2022, WCF bought and filled 80 duffel bags for children removed quickly from their homes without personal items and for other children under WCCB care who need essential supplies.
